Southeast Sport Management Grad Aims to Bring Sports Fans Together

In 2011, the St. Louis Cardinals won their 11th World Series Championship - rallying fans through all seven games, and inspiring a young Blake Schaffer to not only be a lifelong fan, but also to pursue a career in sports. Schaffer, of St. Louis, Missouri, will graduate from Southeast this month with a Bachelor of Science in sport management.

Southeast Students Prospect for Dinosaur Fossils in Big Sky Country

Eight Southeast students recently spent a Saturday in the Rhodes Hall Geoscience Lab cleaning, gluing and preserving dinosaur fossils they collected in the Hell Creek Formation of the Mesozoic Era near Jordan, Montana, last July. The group reunited with the Adventure 360-Paleo X Adventure Team of Fenton, Missouri, who teamed up last summer to prospect for dinosaur fossils.

Southeast Missouri State University student Rutradarshini Asokan hopes studying and researching the heart can help save lives and prepare her to be a successful cardiovascular surgeon. Asokan, of Seremban, Malaysia, a senior biology major, biomedical sciences option, with a chemistry minor, was recently selected to present her heart atria and valve research at the Biomedical Engineering Society Conference in Philadelphia.

Southeast Missouri State University student Gabrione Kent has combined his passion for charitable work and entrepreneurship to help fight food insecurity on campus and in the local community. Kent, a senior entrepreneurship major from Warrensburg, Illinois, created the One Meal A Week program as a way for students to donate their unused meal plan dollars to the Redhawk Food Pantry.
