Southeast Hospitality Management Student Pursues Passion in the Peaks with Mountain Resort Internship

Southeast Missouri State University senior Jamie Shultz had never stepped foot on a ski resort before December. Now, the hospitality management major can be found at Kirkwood Mountain Resort overseeing daily operations for the resort's ticketing team. Shultz is completing an internship at the Kirkwood, California, resort before she graduates in May, and has spent the last four months working as a ticketing scanning lead for the resort.

Southeast Missouri State University student Francesca Bucci is combining her passion for comedy and public relations this summer as a marketing and design intern at Stage773 in Chicago, Illinois. Bucci, a senior double majoring in mass media, public relations option, and theatre, acting option, from Gurnee, Illinois, says she feels right at home on the stage, bringing beloved characters to life and even making audiences laugh and forget their worries for a little while. But there's a lot of work that goes on behind the curtain, and Bucci is getting a front row seat to see what it takes to run a successful performance and tenant venue.

Southeast Computer Science Student Goes Behind the Code with Amazon

Southeast Missouri State University student Grant Reid is getting a bird's eye view of the world's largest e-commerce company this summer, serving as a software development engineer intern with Amazon in Seattle, Washington. Reid, a senior computer science major with a minor in mathematics of Pleasant Plains, Illinois, works with Amazon Web Service's (AWS) Cognito team. As a subsidiary of Amazon, AWS provides on-demand cloud computing platforms to individuals, companies and governments. The Cognito team specifically helps companies, large and small, with authentication, authorization and user management services for web and mobile apps.

Several Southeast Missouri State University students have cast their hopes on the new Cape Catfish baseball team, intent on reeling in a treasure-trove of learning opportunities with the organization this summer.
