2018 Apr 18

Southeast Missouri State University Marketing Club students recently competed in the 2018 Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference and Competition April 11-14 in Washington, D.C.

Madison Francis of Farmington, Missouri, and Hannah Gordon of Englewood, Colorado, finished third in the Event Planning competition. In addition, Lydia Corneal of Herscher, Illinois, and Carlos Pacha of Quito, Ecuador, were named top 10 finalists in the Sports and Entertainment Marketing event. The Southeast students participated in a field of more than 1,000 outstanding competitors from colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

Also competing were Chris Hensen of St. Charles, Missouri; Blake Henson of St. Charles; and Laci Zeidler of Pinckneyville, Illinois.

As part of its commitment to experiential learning, the Department of Management and Marketing in the Harrison College of Business has sponsored Collegiate DECA for several years, and each year sends numerous participants to the state and international competitions. In the 2017-2018 school year, membership has remained steady with just over 24 members, making the Southeast Collegiate DECA chapter the second largest Missouri.
