Matthew Libby Selected for Spring 2014 Emerging Leaders at Southeast

2013 Dec 20

Matthew Libby of Grover, MO, has been selected to the Spring 2014 class of Emerging Leaders at Southeast Missouri State University.

Libby is an Outdoor Recreation major at Southeast.

Emerging Leaders is a spring semester, University-sponsored student leadership program designed to further the development of the University's future leaders by refining their current leadership abilities and instilling in them a commitment to the campus and community.

The program is open to first-year and second-year students interested in developing their leadership skills and connecting with other students. Topics such as communication, diversity, time management, and professionalism are covered through fun, creative activities and personal exploration. Participants are required to attend eight educational sessions and a weekend retreat, and complete a project in which they apply their leadership skills.

Emerging Leaders are selected based on good academic and disciplinary standing, and who have less than 60 credit hours. Students participate in an interview and are selected based on leadership experience and potential, involvement, service and motivation.
