Elena Nunez Appointed as Presidential Ambassador at Southeast Missouri State University

Elena Nunez of Kirkwood, MO, has been appointed by Dr. Carlos Vargas, president of Southeast Missouri State University, to serve as a Presidential Ambassador at the University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Presidential Ambassadors are student representatives of the president of the University. The Ambassadors assist the president and his staff in greeting and assisting visiting guests and dignitaries, serving at presidential functions and promoting good will to all those outside the University.

Nunez is a sophomore pursuing degrees in biomedical sciences and fine arts. Her career aspirations are to become a doctor and medical illustrator. She is a member of Southeast's Student Government, Student Activities Council, Residence Hall Association, Art Guild, Student Organization of Latinos, Ultimate Frisbee Club, Sustainable Students Organization, Global Medical Brigades, and Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority. She is a lifeguard at Southeast's Student Recreation Center and is a recipient of the 2015 Jack Buck Scholar-Leadership Award and the 2016 Southeast's First-Year Student Award. Nunez is the daughter of Dr. Mero and Jane Nunez from Kirkwood, Missouri, and is a 2015 graduate of Kirkwood High School.
