Dhanjara De Silva Appointed as Presidential Ambassador at Southeast Missouri State University

Dhanjara De Silva of Katugastota, Kandy, Sri Lanka, has been appointed by Dr. Carlos Vargas, president of Southeast Missouri State University, to serve as a Presidential Ambassador at the University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Presidential Ambassadors are student representatives of the president of the University. The Ambassadors assist the president and his staff in greeting and assisting visiting guests and dignitaries, serving at presidential functions and promoting good will to all those outside the University.

De Silva is a junior pursuing a degree in engineering technology: electrical and control. His career aspiration is to become an automobile engineer or college professor. He is a student representative for the Office of the President's University Equity and Inclusion Committee; serves as membership officer for Southeast's Unified Young Leaders non-profit organization; and is member of Southeast's Sri Lanka Student Association. He was named to the Southeast Dean's List for fall 2015 and spring 2016. De Silva is the son of Champika Senevirathne and Kapila De Silva, and is a 2014 graduate of Kandy Grammar School.
